Little thought

Posted by vampire at 09:41 AM on June 1, 2004.

Something which seemed to be passing thru my thoughts recently:

I'm not saying this for everyone, but I think that life would be better if I don't have time to go online, or use the PC. This would mean that I have to sacrifice my gaming style, chatting, e-mailing, etc.

I'd say life was better back then, during those days without the PC (primary school days), where we go about, without handphones. Chatting is done through the phone, with people we want to talk to, and of course calls are charged per call basis, no matter how long you talk.

Yeah, I had enjoyed my secondary school chatting away on mIRC, ICQ, but I think it has sorta ruined my life a little. Friends made online are not really friends, they are just companions, who are bored, and go online.

I just think that it's better to live your life out of the cyber world, but still, I'm addicted to it. I hope someone can cure me of it.

Pressure

Posted by vampire at 01:13 AM on June 3, 2004.

Lotsa things have been pressuring me lately:

1) Work... When you deal with customers, and you can't deliver or don't know how to deliver, it's a problem... It's not much, but it adds to my load.

2) Not enough hours in a day... I really still can't get adjusted to this weekday routines... So little time to do anything long and enjoyable after work...

3) I am thinking of quitting this stupid online life, and get on with life... What's the point of chatting with people online, and behave differently with physically around them... I must develop this side of me... I really hope I can change...

4) What's my goal in life? Earn money? Support myself? What else? Own a car? Get a house? Then? I must set a better goal than this...

5) I complain of my company being too boring... What I didn't realize was that I am boring, cos I don't talk much, how do I expect ppl to talk to me. Happens anywhere else... dealing with clients, etc. Dammit... I hated this feeling since Primary5... I really must do something to get rid of this, although I've been telling myself this for a long time...

6) I can't get myself to do lotsa things, like sports and wake up early to settle things, do stuff... But SLEEP is so important to me? When else can I settle for more sleep? Do I need to see a doctor about this? Maybe cos I sleep too much for the past few years, that it has grown into a habit... I feel weak~!

7) I've worked for 6 months... It's time to settle to the next stage - dating... You see ppl here & there getting attached... Even my Form 5 classmate is gonna get married soon...

Let Go

Posted by vampire at 01:19 AM on June 3, 2004.

Things to let go when you start working here in Penang as an engineer:

1) Sleep... you lose plenty of sleep.
2) Friends... Company owns them now...
3) Yourself... You can't be yourself anymore... You are what your company wants you to be, and if you can't be that person, you're under big pressure.

Anyone knows any way to redeem myself and sleep? I don't mind a lower pay.

BOOM!!

Posted by vampire at 01:22 AM on June 3, 2004.

I feel like a bomb...
All my pressures from life is being sucked in...
One day, this will explode...
All input, and no output...

I want it out... But there's no channel or any means to get it out...
Dying inside...

France vs England

Posted by vampire at 08:32 AM on June 14, 2004.

France dominated mostly, but England managed to absorb it well, and even scored a goal thru Chelsea's Lampard. Then, Eriksson decided to go defensive and removed Rooney and Owen, for Heskey and Vassell.

Rooney almost had a good chance to score, but was brought down in the penalty box. But alas, the England captain delivered a weak penalty, which Barthez managed to save easily.

So in injury time, two goals were scored from Zidane within 2 minutes of play. Damn... From winning 90 bucks, in one minute, it changed to winning 45 bucks, and with the second France goal, I lost 100 bucks... Dang...

Anyway, France played well... And this is football... Greece can beat Portugal.

Nightmare

Posted by vampire at 08:37 AM on June 14, 2004.

I slept early last nite to wake up and watch the France-England match... Well, I was disturbed by some nightmare I had.

The house opposite mine, which no one is staying at, is occupied by some ghostly being... Dang... Scary... Couldn't fight the thing. It even bit off my hand, during the fight. It wasn't afraid of the religious chantings, and all those holy stuff.

And recently, I feel that the feng shui in my room isn't good. I need a change... I will move out soon, when I can find a good place to move to.

Bookmakers

Posted by vampire at 02:40 PM on June 15, 2004.

hmm... Bookies are shortform for bookmakers... What are they? In some countries, bookmakers are legal professions.

Basically, if you set up your own company, a lot of maths will be involved, especially Probability and Statistics... You take up any offers or bets on anything at all, calculate the odds, and give a quote, usually called odds, to the customer.

This odds are usually in the form of decimal. Let's say a 1.70 odds for something to happen means that, for each dollar on that bet, you'll earn 70 cents.

For football, there are many styles of betting. You can play it the Ang Mo way (odds style). Or the Asian style. Called Asian handicap betting.

For each match, the handicaps are fixed throughout Asia, or the world. Canggih hoh? Usually, everyone follows this standard. I donno who the hell sets these standards... ANSI? Hahah... ISO?

Example 1:
AC Milan vs Bologna, Milan to give 1 ball.
This means that Bologna is given a goal headstart. Thus for those betting on Milan, they'd only win money if Milan won by at least 2 goals. If Milan won by a goal (e.g. 1-0), he does not win any money.

Example 2:
Italy vs Denmark, Italy to give 1/2 ball.
This means that Denmark is given half a goal headstart. You may be asking, "How could u score half a goal?" Well, let's just take this as a bookie's way of making money. Because of the half goal, the person betting surely will either win or lose money. No such thing as a draw here. If Denmark wins or draws, the person betting on Italy loses all he bets on.

By placing bets thru bookies, you are directly playing with the bookie. He accepts all bets in the Asian Handicap style. He takes both sides. Well, he also charges a small booking fee for each win of your win. Let's say he's like an agent who sets up bets for you with other ppl. He get's like around 10-15% of your spoils.

Example 3:
Sweden vs Bulgaria, Sweden to give 1/4 ball.
This one is a bit more complicated. You might ask "Isn't 1/4 ball equivalent to 1/2 ball?" Well, 1/4 ball isn't the value you are really giving for a headstart. It just means that your bets will be split. Let's say you bet $100 on Sweden. $50 will go to Bet #1, which is a fair game with no handicaps. $50 will go to Bet #2, which is giving Bulgaria 1/2 ball headstart.

Joys of Working from Home

Posted by vampire at 12:29 PM on June 17, 2004.

1) Work when you want
Nap when you feel like it, but have to maintain a discipline and finish your work.

2) Loud Music
Can listen to loud music coming from Speakers and not headphones or earphones... Can also listen to illegal mp3s... Hehe...

3) Comfy
You can walk around topless or naked. No colleague is around to care about it.

4) Food
You can eat whenever you want, and not adhere to a strict lunch break.

5) Best is that you can do your banking, and other stuff like going to post office, pay bills, etc which can only be done during office hours, and work during non-office hours...
