Engineers

Posted by vampire at 11:03 AM on August 2, 2004.

Engineers are sad sad slaves...
Work so much, and get relatively low return...
I definitely won't be an engineer when I retire...

Intelligence can be expressed in many ways...
It doesnt have to be technical.

Here's comments to the recent blog entries in my friends' blogs:

If you stick to a job for 2 yrs, you're stuck to that job/company. I'd like to remind some of you again. If you're not happy with your job, don't just sit there and groan about it. Go get your butt up and look for other jobs. Even though it might be worse, at least you tried. Belum Cuba, Belum Tahu. This advice goes especially to FCP.

Guys don't treat gals nicely for no reason at all... Most guys out there, this includes me, will treat a gal nicely especially if he just got to know her, and he has the intention to go after her... I repeat, especially when you just got to know the gal recently. This includes guys who are married, has a gf... whatever... it doesn't matter too much nowadays.

Time is relative. Time flies by super fast when you're having fun. Time is super slow, when you're bored. You could be so bored that you 'could kill yourself' :P. So which do you prefer? Lotsa time in your hands and be bored, or go out and have fun, then complain you don't have enough time? Hehe... there is one exception to this rule: you could work and work (not fun), and not have enough time to complete the work~!

Friendster Testimonial/Number of Friends. Some people just add you to their list even if they don really know you or don't know you at all. This might make them seem more popular cos they will have hundreds and hundreds of frens... This is just my opinion... I don't think people can have that large number of real close frens... Some people write in your testimonial, so that you can write back in theirs. 'Nuff said.

Langkawi Trip

Posted by vampire at 04:13 PM on August 30, 2004.

I went to Langkawi for a 2 days 1 nite trip... Was tiring, cos I went there almost immediately after my biz trip in Malacca... Imagine, after work, a 6-hr drive to Penang, then pack for Langkawi, sleeping for only 2 hours, before catching the ferry.

Ferry ride was quite bad... Bobbing up and down and sideways... There were 7 of us for that trip... One of us were vomitting thruout the journey...

In Langkawi, it was more of a shopping trip, instead of an island trip... We didn't really play on the beach, did not dip in the water at all... We were there for the duty free shopping... Bought lotsa chocolates and a bottle of liquor...

The rule was to stay a minimum of 48 hours, to be entitled to buy a litre of liquor without being taxed. We were only staying for one night, so we couldn't comply to this rule... So, we smuggled two bottles back... hehe... I got a Sheridan Coffee Liquor for Rm55, while Ray got a bottle of Chivas for Rm65... I bought around Rm130 worth of chocolates and nougats...

The hotel I stayed in was Hotel Helang (Eagle Hotel)... It was just beside the airport... Rm160 per night... The room can easily accomodate 7 of us comfortably. The price includes two breakfast too... Nice continental breakfast.

Too bad I don't have my digicam anymore, so no pics to share... You ppl gotta wait for Ray or Lisa to pass their photos to me before I can share it...

We visited the Underwater World... You see signs with words "DO NOT USE CAMERAS WITH FLASH", and yet you see so many ppl snapping pics with flash, as though they do not know how to read... Then there's the fat family who stand beyond the line, and blocks the aquarium, so that no one else can view the fishes... Dang those ppl... Chinese ppl sure are selfish, and inconsiderate...

Me, Ray & Cla bought a cigar each, and I got a headache after puffing on one... haha... Rm17 for a cigar...

Next trip would be during the Deepavali-Raya holidays around November 11-16th... Hope I can conjure something up for that holidays... Maybe Phuket? Perhentian? Anyone wanna join?

Movie Reviews

Posted by vampire at 01:23 AM on September 1, 2004.

Title: RAISING HELEN
Starring: Kate Hudson
Genre: Comedy (Family, Career woman)
Source: Cineplex
Rating: Good

It's about a single lady who loves her job in the fashion world, goes out partying, etc... Suddenly, she acquires custody of her sister's children, three of them... Life will change for her.

Nice comedy, no dirty humor. Lotsa short comic scenes. The director gives details to the smallest things... Notice the facial expressions on the boy (Henry), Massey's picture frame in the background, the waterboy's expression when being photographed, etc... Good movie to watch in the cineplex, where you can laugh with others...

Title: THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT
Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart
Genre: Drama / Sci-Fi
Source: DVD
Rating: OK

It shows the effect of Chaos Theory, where you change one thing, you'd change lotsa other things significantly... And this film involves time travelling... Usually, you don't have many good films about time travelling because you tend to question how, what, and 'why not's...

Evan (Kutcher) is the son of a psycho father, and grew up with mental blackouts, where he can't remember certain events. When he reaches age 20, he suddenly gets to remember things happening when he blacked out when he was young. And he can change the past, and so, the future as well...
