Moving Out
Posted by vampire at 01:12 AM on September 2, 2004.
I wanna move out soon, from my house here...
Why? Cos it's stuffy, and I don't like the fengshui here...
I don't feel nice here... Uneasy, not too happy...
In Penang, it is important for me to get a house/apartment, with no traffic jams, many access routes, enough parking spaces. In the house/apartment, I need the place to be windy... Air must flow... Feng shui must not be bad...
To live comfortably, I want the place furnished... Now that I'm not a student anymore, I want a couch, sofa, TV, DVD Player, Mini Theater Set, Broadband, Laptop...
The rest which aren't so important are: Fridge, Washing Machine, Air Con, Water Heater...
All these are so expensive... Hope the new place I am gonna stay at comes with all these... Better start looking hard...

Watched lotsa movies for the past few days...
Title: TAKING LIVES
Genre: Thriller, Murder Mystery
Starring: Angeline Jolie, Ethan Hawke
Director: D.J. Caruso
Year: 2004
Source: DVD
Rating: 3/5
This is sorta like Bone Collector, also starring Jolie... but Bone Collector is much better than this... The killer for this movie takes up his victims' identity... So it's hard to know who the killer is. The plot for this movie is developed nicely, till nearly the end, where everything is ruined... You get to see Jolie's boobs in this movie :P
Title: KILL BILL Vol. 1
Genre: Bloody Action
Starring: Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Year: 2003
Source: DVD (Cinema Copy)
Rating: Nice
The Bride was left to die on her wedding day after being shot in the head... She woke up from her coma after 4 years, seeking revenge...
This movie features lotsa sword-fighting, samurai style... No holding back on killing... Japanese themed movie... Lotsa limbs/body parts being cut off... There's a mini anime clip in there, too... There isn't much story, just kill kill kill... And the Bride can travel around in the plane with a samurai sword beside her :P
Title: SECRET WINDOW
Genre: Thriller
Starring: Angeline Jolie, Ethan Hawke
Director: David Koepp
Year: 2004
Source: DVD
Rating: Watchable when you're free
This movie is about a writer, who caught his wife and another guy in the act :P at a motel... Then 6 months later, a guy appears on his doorstep accusing him of stealing his story, and threatens him... Things start to get violent...
I wanted to watch this movie, because I read the novel by Stephen King. The story in the book is kinda short, so I expected this movie to be draggy, and it is... Things move slowly... The plot unravels slowly... Yeah, it's kinda like the book, but the director did it well... I like the ending... This is how movies should end~!
Title: SIX STRONG GUYS (Cantonese)
Genre: Comedy (Hong Kong style)
Starring: Hacken Lee, Andy Hui, Ekin Cheng, George Lam, Chapman To, Karena Lam
Director: Barbara Wong
Year: 2004
Source: Cineplex
Rating: Good for a HK Comedy
6 guys facing different problems in their lives, some wanting to end theirs. Suicide didn't work out, so they lead their lives somewhat changed... Actually, when you watch a HK comedy movie, you do not care about the story... Story sux... Doesn't make sense... You just go for the laughs...
The laughs are there... It's nice to laugh with people all around you...

Chased by a ghost
Posted by vampire at 09:50 AM on September 16, 2004.
Last night I slept around 12.30am...
Then ar, I started dreaming...
I donno where I am but there were three of us walking along that straight road. It looks like one of the roads in Bangkok, near the Muay Thai boxing place. In the middle of the road, there's a divider with trees planted.
I was walking on the right side. Lisa and forgot who else was walking on the left side. Then I suddenly realize we were walking on someplace creepy. So I mentioned it to Lisa.
I looked across the road, I see Lisa sitting on a tree. The tree is like
the lastik shape. Y-shaped. She was sitting on the Y part. The other
person is standing beside her.
As I was looking across, I told her I felt a creepy feeling. Suddenly, someone appeared on the empty road. 'She' was lying on the road, then slowly sitting up. Then started walking towards us.
Lisa looked shocked. I was very shocked too. We started to walk/run fast.
I asked Lisa to confirm whether she saw the thing suddenly appear. When she said she saw the same thing, both of us were scared. But I knew I was in a dream. So I made myself woke up.
This ghost had long hair, but not until the long long type like always depicted in movies. It's sth like Orochimaru's hair. The eyes are like quite round, orangy in color, like with flames burning in them, and the pupils are tiny - only a black dot. This, I saw, when it turned to look at me.
This is the first time I know that I'm dreaming. And tonight itself, it's the first time I woke up from a dream, in a dream... That means double layered dreams.

Title:
VISITS: HUNGRY GHOST ANTHOLOGY
Source: Cineplex
Rating: Argh, It's Killing Me!!
This 2-hour movie is made up of four 30-minute short stories. It's a Malaysian-made show. Alas, the quality of the movie is bad. The video seems to come from a digital camcorder with a resolution not high enough to be fit for cineplex screens.
Acting is also bad, and woody (hokkien term - cha cha). Story... Hmmm... typical, heard of before... So, always stick to books for ghost movies.

ATM Card
Posted by vampire at 12:49 PM on September 29, 2004.
Sigh...
Last month, August 27th, I was in Malacca, and I was trying to withdraw some money from the Maybank ATM in Petronas, Bkt Beruang. I was using a Hong Leong Bank ATM Card. But the flap for the ATM card slot won't open after my transaction was done, so I couldn't remove my ATM card. So it got retained by the machine.
That was a Friday, around 7.30pm. No one was working, so I couldn't do anything about it, and I would be going Langkawi the day after.
I had tried for two weeks to contact the Maybank branch at Munshi Adbullah, but either the phone is engaged, no one is picking up, or they just put me on hold forever. Finally, I got through to the ATM officer after I shouted at one of the employees there. Pity the person to be shouted at, cos all errors were by their faulty phone system, linking me to a non-connected phone line, all the time.
The Maybank officer in charge said she had sent my card to the Hong Leong branch in Jln Ong Kim Wee. So, I contacted the Ong Kim Wee branch. They said they didn't receive anything, and asked me to contact the head branch in KL. Also no trace of my card.
So after calling so many numbers, and so many branches, just because my ATM card was retained for the machine's mechanical failure, I decided enough is enough. It had been one month plus. I can't survive any longer without the ATM card. Money is running out.
I had to dish out Rm10 to report my card as lost. And another Rm20 to obtain a new one. Sigh... All this is not my fault. Just my bad luck.
