Dream?
Posted by vampire at 09:49 PM on September 1, 2006.
Last nite, I had yet another dream... But it's blurry...
I was involved in a group treasure hunt of some sort.
It was in a building with many storeys...
And the event is time-limited... Had to complete the hunt in a few hours, and gotta scout around for clues on every single floor...
The place is like a shopping complex...
I remember taking out a device like the HSBC's security device out of a mannequin... and I used it like a car remote control...
So I went to the carpark area, and tried the remote control, and it managed to unlock an Audi A8... ooo shiok...
When I went inside, the device suddenly had a key attached to it... turns out I can ignite the car using it... lagi shiok...
So I drove around the city with that car...
But in the end, I forgotten about the hunt... I can't remember anymore about the dream...

Genting, Here I go
Posted by vampire at 06:34 AM on September 2, 2006.
I have to disable my tagboard (the chatbox at the side of my blog) temporarily, cos some cilaka guy is spamming it. I hope tabulas come out with a solution, or I would have to get an external tagboard, which comes with verification or owner moderation.
I will be leaving for Genting soon... to meet up with my high school frens from Batu Lintang...
1) Lau & SzeSze will be here all the way from Kuching;
2) Lian Fatt will drive up from JB;
3) Wee Kong & gf will go up from KL area;
4) lastly, me, Thomas & his gf will drive down from Penang...
All this planned at the last moment... Luckily Wee Kong managed to get a discounted room for us, considering that that room was booked on Wednesday... and it's peak season rate for tonight's room...
Anyone else will be there this weekend? If you do, gimme a call... let's have coffee. :p

Training, Again
Posted by vampire at 03:23 AM on September 5, 2006.
Remember the training I went for about a month ago? The trainer wasn't qualified. So we filled in a feedback form after the training, and the training company's management replied that for the next session (we were gonna have 2 sessions for my company), they are gonna get a qualified trainer... Those who attended the first session may attend this 2nd session free of charge. :p
Today (Monday) the training starts, and it lasts for 5 full days... I didn't attend today's session cos:
1) I don't wanna get an unqualified trainer yet again, so I let my colleagues become guinea pigs and try the first day.
2) I've got work to finish. One of my projects is due on Thursday. Found out Visual Basic 6 is old, and does not support Chinese characters for certain functions like reading from a file containing Chinese characters, or printing Chinese characters to the printer.
Anyway, the feedback from two of my colleagues was "good" and "ok lo". So, I decided to go ahead with the training for tomorrow...
Since it's already 3:23am, and I gotta 'wake up' at 7+am, and last the whole day till earliest 6pm, I hope I don't konked out tomorrow in the class. :p

Turtle (tu)
Posted by vampire at 12:20 PM on September 6, 2006.
If you are using Windows or MSN Messenger, maybe you've noticed that many folks in your list are displaying turtle emoticons.
Explanation for this:
This is supposed to be a tribute to the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, whom we've seen on our telly sets wrestling crocodiles, and handling snakes.
If you wish to follow the crowd, add (tu) to your MSN/Windows nickname.
Update:
Apparently, some person decided to forward around a message asking ppl to drop the turtle from their nicknames, and replace it with a flower instead.
I hate these kinda ppl who are jealous of someone else's popularity, and decide to have some for themselves, and at the same time decrease the other person's popularity in a bad manner.

2Mbps Broadband @ Rm60
Posted by vampire at 11:38 AM on September 8, 2006.
I am currently blogging from my training class... Now the trainer is teaching SQL Stored Procedures, which I have learnt in the past session from the other trainer...
Currently, my apartment is experiencing Streamyx downtime. Stupid Streamyx. Here's their
announcement page.
You can see that on September
6th, they announced the service interruption which started onthe
5th. Isn't that a day too late?!
And they carry it on till 19th September. Wow. That's 2 whole weeks. And that's only the announced or proposed period. I am quite sure they cannot finish whatever they plan to do within that period of time. I donno when I can go online again.
I am an anti-Telekom group: TM, Streamyx, MMU, etc. All of them sux.
Anyway, I am suggesting an alternative broadband provider for those in Penang. They are
PenangFON. I don't know anyone who has subscribed to this service yet, so I don't know the reliability.
But they boast of a 2Mbps speed and unlimited access at only Rm60 per month (compared to Streamyx's 512Mbps at Rm66 per month). And (for me) best of all, you do not need to own a phone line. Who needs phone lines nowadays? I do not wanna make TM earn more money. Currently, to use Streamyx, we are forced to pay Rm24.30 for a phone line, which we do not need. All we want is the broadband.
Sadly, PenangFON has just been launced recently. Service is not available in most areas yet. You can still sign up your interest for it
here.

CNY Air Ticket
Posted by vampire at 11:47 AM on September 22, 2006.
I prefer using MAS for trips back to my hometown from Penang, because:
- There is no direct flight from Penang to Kuching. All flights transit or stop in KL.
- For MAS, you can check in in Penang, and need not leave the arrival hall to check in again in KLIA. For AirAsia, you need to check in again once you touch down in the LCCT.
- MAS check-in counters open much earlier, and for a longer time than AirAsia check-in counters. Sometimes I gotta wait hours till the AirAsia counter in LCCT opens.
- MAS compensates for any delayed flights, which result in the passenger missing the connecting flight. AirAsia does not provide this service. Meaning, if AirAsia flight from PG -> KL was delayed for two hours due to heavy rain, causing me to miss the KL -> KCH flight, I'd have to repurchase the KL->KCH flight at my own cost. MAS would put me on the next available flight, and would put me up at the nearby hotel if I'm required to stay overnight. This is FOC.
In 2005, I bought the return air ticket using MAS for Chinese New Year, from Penang to KCH for Rm712.
In 2006, again, using MAS for the return trip, I paid around Rm830.
Now, for CNY 2007, I'd have to pay Rm1000+ for a return air ticket using MAS from Penang to Kuching. And the new online booking system for MAS sux... I can't book a flight from Penang -> KCH -> Penang. I was told by the MAS staff that I have to book PG -> KL -> PG, and KL -> KCH - KL separately to enjoy the internet fares... This is stupid.
So for CNY 2007, I have booked 3 AirAsia flights and 1 MAS flight:
1) PG -> KL : AirAsia (Rm90)
2) KL -> KCH: MAS (Rm275)
3) KCH -> KL: AirAsia (Rm185)
4) KL -> PG: AirAsia (Rm70)
Which brings a total of... Rm620... Not bad eh...
But I gotta take an extra day of leave cos I leave Kch on Monday.
AND I gotta move from LCCT to KLIA once I touch down on Friday night, and wait there patiently from 11+pm to 5am...
Hong Leong Bank
Posted by vampire at 12:08 PM on September 22, 2006.
Hong Leong Bank is lousy... Provides lousy service.
I am forced to use this bank because my salary goes there. Usually I will transfer my money to my other bank accounts when my salary gets in. Other banks provide better service.
1) Hong Leong Phone and Online Banking is not accessible after 11pm. I'm a vampire, I only get active at night!
Maybank2u is accessible almost 24 hours, but banking services may be limited.
HSBC Online Banking is active almost 24/7 (Sometimes, they do maintenance during weekends).
2) Hong Leong Bank Credit Card cannot be used for online transactions anymore. And they didn't inform the cardholders about this. I can't purchase AirAsia tickets online. What a stupid policy. Kolot bank. So I gave the business to HSBC.
Usually, if a suspicious transaction is declined, the bank which issued that credit card will call up the cardholder to enquire about the transaction, before approving it. For Hong Leong Bank, they'll never call you. For HSBC, yes.
3) Hong Leong Bank has limited branches. They also have limited ATMs (Automated Teller Machine) and CDMs (Cash Deposit Machine). Once, I had a few thousand of cash in hand and I wanted to deposit to the Hong Leong CDM. The CDM was down the whole weekend. I had to wait till Monday morning to deposit the cash though the counter. I even tried going to 3 bank branches in Penang, but all the CDMs are down (actually there are only 2 CDMs nearby).
4) Once, a Maybank ATM sucked my Hong Leong Bank ATM card. I called Maybank, and they said they had mailed the ATM card to HLB. I called HLB and they said they didnt receive it. In the end, I had to report loss of card, and pay to make a new one, for a fault that wasn't mine.
5) For most banks, you go to their bank, take a number and have a seat while waiting for your turn. For Hong Leong Bank, you gotta queue up!!! This is so stupid.
6) Hong Leong Bank don't provide the service to pay bills for PBA (Water Bill in Penang). I have to pay thru Maybank.
7) Hong Leong Call Center for Phone Banking sux... You gotta wait almost 10 minutes for your called to be answered by an incapable person.
8) Hong Leong Bank don't reply to your enquiries/complaints online.
9) Hong Leong Bank has no complaints/suggestion box. I donno if other banks has it, though.
10) hmm... wat else... need 10 to complete the list... HLB Online is slow... loading a page during office hours can put you to sleep...
11) I thought of one more... HLB Online passwords are only 6 digit numbers, not alphanumeric. If I'm not mistaken, Maybank2u requires at least 6 alphanumeric characters. HSBC Online needs the security device.
