AirAsia Departure Times
Posted by vampire at 03:07 PM on April 11, 2008.
This happened to me two weeks ago. I didn't manage to check in for my AirAsia flight from Singapore to KL, because I was 'late'. Subsequently, I had to miss my connecting flight from KL to Penang.
All this was because AirAsia changed the departure time for my flight from 11:30AM to 11:20AM, 10 minutes earlier. And they did not inform me via e-mail or sms or phone.
For those who doesn't know, AirAsia counters opens for check-in 2 hours before the departure time, and closes about 45 minutes before departure time. I arrived at the counter at 10:40AM. If my flight was 11:30AM, that would be 5 minutes before counter closing time, but too bad, the flight was 11:20AM, and thus, I was 5 minutes late instead.
More important AirAsia info:
they often change their departure times. What you had printed out during booking time may not be the actual departure time.
Upon a check on the Terms & Conditions on AirAsia site, this is what I got:
Article 9: Schedules, Cancellations
9.1
Schedules: We will use our best efforts to avoid delay in carrying you and your baggage. We will endeavour to adhere to published schedules in effect on the date of travel. However,
times shown in timetables, schedules or elsewhere are subject to change at any time and from time to time and
we shall not be liable in any way whatsoever for any loss incurred by passengers as a result of such change.
My advice: Always check your flight info in AirAsia.com 24 hours before flying.
In the end, we bought new tickets from JB to Penang, and had to take a cab from S'pore to Senai Airport.
AirAsia Insurance

Don't get cheated for paying for useless flight insurance by AirAsia.
When you book for your AirAsia flights online, after selecting your flight(s) and keying in the passenger information, they charge you for Travel Insurance by default.
AirAsia GoInsure Travel Protection - 15.00 MYR Premium
They state that:
If you do not wish to have travel insurance, you can remove it in the next page. (Payment Page)
So at the Payment Page, they made it as hard and confusing as possible for you to remove the Insurance option. I will teach you how to do that, because many people have 'donated' their money for this insurance unknowingly.
On the left hand panel, click on [No, Thanks].
A message window will pop up, confirming whether you wish to remove the insurance option.
CLICK Cancel. Don't click OK. It's trying to confuse you.
Make sure the Payment page refreshes, and the Insurance option is removed from the left-hand panel. You may now proceed to pay for your flight.
From Adipos comments, I've gone to check the AirAsia insurance details. It is provided by AIG (SE Asia), not a bad insurance company. It includes worldwide 24 hours coverage.
Insurance coverage starts upon check-in. If you purchase a one-way-flight insurance, it ends when you disembark the flight. If it's a return-flight insurance, the coverage ends at the end of the return flight, or the 30th day, whichever is earlier.
Flight cancellations: Covered up to flight costs. This is not required, as AirAsia will reimburse you if they cancel your flight.
Flight delays: RM150 per 6-hour delay period. I think 6 hours is too long, just to claim a Rm150. Not worth it.
Baggage Loss/Damage: Total up to Rm1500. I think it's only worth it to buy the insurance if your credit card does not cover baggage loss/damage, and if you're checking in expensive stuff. But one item can be claimed up to Rm500 only.

Ignorance
Posted by vampire at 04:45 PM on April 14, 2008.
Generally, West Malaysians have always been ignorant of the East Malaysian states.
Some of them don't know the difference between Sabah and Sarawak. Some thought Kuching is in Sabah. Or even worse, some thought Sabah is in Sarawak, or vice versa.
Anyway, I was surfing for Tax Info from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) website, and I saw this at this
link (Page 20):
Can't even spell a state capital properly, even when there's a proper spelling for reference on the right column.

Handphone

Met up with Adipos in Singapore on a holiday trip there at the end of March. We had this conversation:
Me: Last time I met you at Bedok area for supper, remember?
Adipos: Sure or not? I can't remember. Last time I was still in JC (Junior College).
Me: Yeah, I walked and met you halfway between my aunt's place and your hostel.
Adipos: But I didn't have a handphone back then. How did we ever communicate on how to meet up?
Haha... I was surprised he forgotten how we handled things back then when we don't have the technology of handphones in our pockets.
Adipos, if I'm not mistaken, I called your hall phone number, and rendezvous-ed at that food spot that YOU chose.

Psst... wanna buy a lottery ticket?
There's a new seller in town. Not Damacai. Not Toto, Magnum.
Guess who it is?
It's none other than
AirAsia.
Click link to go to their lottery homepage.
It's called a quizcard. It is sold in-flight. It's Rm6 for a ticket.
If u scratch all the 3 answers correctly, you will win a RM10 AirAsia voucher and a chance to win US$1,000,000.
You will have to snail mail your quizcard to enter the contest, and to claim the RM10 voucher.
